Dr.
G. Keith Olson Bio
In 1971, Family
Consultation Services was established as an expression of
my desire to integrate the perspectives of psychology
and my study of human relationships with God's word as
it is revealed in the Bible. This was the first
professional counseling center in San Diego to be
established with evangelical Christianity as its basis
www.fcschristiancounseling.com. Many of the most fulfilling experiences in my more than
30 years of professional life have been in my
relationships with clients and colleagues that I have
been privileged to enjoy at the Center for Enriching
Relationships and Family Consultation Services.
During these years I have had the opportunity to work with a very
wide range of people dealing with an equally wide range of issues.
However, I have had the greatest amount of experience, and I believe
expertise, with:
Therapy with individual adults dealing with depression and anxiety
Adults
working with a wide range of ministry-related issues
Marital
therapy
Individual and family therapy with adolescents
Stepfamily adjustments
In addition to providing direct psychotherapy and marital and family
counseling services, it has been my privilege to work to enhance
personal, family and community health through professional speaking,
teaching and writing.
I believe that at the core of all personal and relational problems
is alienation which has plagued humankind since almost the dawn of
creation. My therapy with individuals, couples, and families is
based on the process of helping people to develop stronger
connectedness (relationships with God, with each other, and with
themselves, as well as with the whole of creation within which God
has placed us).
Professional Speaking, Teaching and
Writing:
Speaking engagements include a wide range of topics for
churches, schools, corporations and other organizations. These
opportunities include local presentations, national conferences,
association meetings, and invited international presentations in
Europe, Africa and Asia.
A wide variety of articles in journals and magazines
Three published books (Counseling Teenagers, Why Teenagers
Act the Way They Do, and What Makes Your Teenager Tick?)
Contributions to several other books by different authors.
A four-volume video series on Counseling Teenagers, a
five-volume video series, Understanding Me/Understanding You
Appearances in other video projects on parenting, pastoral
counseling, and psychotherapy

Sometimes painful feelings can become so overwhelming that we lose sight of our purpose, leaving us stuck in a perpetual cycle that can be hard to break. Sometimes past traumas, experiences, doubts, and anxiety can trap us into believing lies about ourselves and others causing us to live broken lives.

Lance Ahl Bio
Whether you are struggling in a cycle of being angry with others, shaming yourself, vying for control, escaping into drugs, or just shutting down from others, there is hope. There is a healthier way of life and my goal in therapy is to help you experience freedom from these cycles and walk in wholeness and peace.
As a longtime surfer, I tend to relate my life circumstances to my experiences in the water. I have learned to ride the different waves life has thrown at me. Sometimes you wipeout but eventually learn to get yourself in position and catch your wave and ride it for all it is worth. I believe the same is true for therapy, we can feel like we’re drowning sometimes and we need help. I am here to help you make those adjustments and learn how to ride the waves of your life.
My journey into therapy started with a call to follow Jesus Christ. I love sharing the Good News of hope and salvation with people and helping others in need. As an ordained pastor, I found great joy in helping people experience Christ’s healing and complete wholeness in every part of their lives. When I discovered that this is my favorite part of ministry, I made the move from being a pastor to a Marriage and Family Therapist. This allows me to focus fully on helping couples, families, and individuals find healing and make healthy changes in their lives so that they can live the purposeful lives that God intended for them. I truly believe that God wants you and your household to experience wholeness and freedom.

Relationships are vital to everyone, but like a garden they must be cultivated and cared for. They
require time, hard work, and imagination if they are expected to flourish and produce fruit. Healthy
relationships are not the result of chance but rather choice, they are the best thing about life, but they
can also produce deep pain.

Dennis Estill Bio
I want to help you become the person God intended you to be and to enjoy
an enriching relationship with others.
For over 35 years I have served as a Senior Pastor of local churches in the Southern California area.
During those years I have come to realize that nothing is more vital to us than relationships, with
God and with each other. When we are experiencing challenges in personal relationships, whether
it is caused by sickness, infidelity, loss, or incompatibility, we need help to “fix” and overcome those
challenges. I have helped couples, individuals, children and families to do that as a pastor and now as
a professional therapist. Sadly, not everything in relationships can be fixed, some things like loss and
estrangement, we have to accept and move forward. I want to help you to do that.
My decision to become a professional Marriage and Family Therapist was prompted by a desire to
provide a level of care to individuals and families, that as a pastor, I did not have the skills and training
to offer. I had for many years lamented the lack of spiritually integrated psychotherapy available to
the local church. The Center for Enriching Relationships provides an integration of good psychological
theory while remaining biblically centered in its focus.
My therapy with individuals, couples, and families is based on the process of helping people to talk
about what is causing relational distress, to identify the negative cycles that have developed and to
create new cycles of interaction. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and respectful of clients
and combines the best of several techniques to help you achieve a secure attachment and implement a
strategy for change.
In addition to providing direct psychotherapy and marital and family counseling services, I have also
been privileged to lead marriage seminars, parenting classes, leadership development institutes, and
personal growth seminars. I would be happy to discuss the possibility of my leading a seminar or
teaching a class on these subjects to your church or organization.

Relieving anxiety and depression
Leadership training and mentoring
Individual and couples facing the challenges of ministry related issues
Retreat and seminar speaker
Areas of Additional Experience and Interest:
Since I grew up in a pastors home (PK), served as a pastor for 35 years, and now have a son serving as a
pastor, I have an intimate knowledge of the stressors that they face and a deep love for ministers and
their families. I know how lonely and challenging it can become and I would like to offer you a safe and
confidential environment for you to talk and find rest.
I have a passion to work with couples and to see marriages restored and families healed. I have
seen couples in the midst of divorce rediscover their love for each other and move from anger and
disconnectedness to secure bonding and mutual respect. I have great hope for your marriage and
believe that if you are willing to do the hard work of rebuilding you can have a better marriage. The
good news is that God will partner together with you to give you His grace and strength.
One of my life verses is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans
to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” I really do believe that God
has a good plan for each one of us, filled with hope and promise, it is my passion to help you to discover
what that plan looks like and to begin to live it out.

It takes courage to face your roadblocks and remove them from your path. I can help by
providing empathic, compassionate and non-judgmental guidance as you seek to
recover from past hurts and find hope in your present circumstance. You will gain new
strength as you develop Godly principles to restore your life and relationships.
I have more than 20 years combined experience counseling women of all ages and
backgrounds from a biblical perspective, both in church leadership and professional
settings. I have also worked with couples to help them communicate more effectively
and develop relationships that are loving and respectful. In addition, I was employed as
a Parent Liaison at Rady Children's Hospital, working closely with families devastated
by childhood cancer. During my 10 years on staff there, I walked closely with families
throughout the continuum of care, helping them to understand and cope more
effectively with the emotional turmoil created in the wake of a diagnosis of cancer. I
have experienced this heartbreak firsthand, my own son was diagnosed at the young
age of three.
My Christian faith has been a nearly 30 year journey. I have served in numerous
capacities at several churches and have been the key note speaker at many women's
events and retreats, however my greatest accomplishment thus far is a 26 year
marriage and three thriving adult children. It has not always been easy, however
counseling has been a valuable tool in helping us to guide our marriage and family in a
Godly manner when we experienced challenges along the way.

Yolanda Gorick, MA, MFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #MFC 51465
At some point, everyone will fail, and experience a loss, hurt or disappointment. Loss is a normal part of life. When we attach our identity to a loss, we think God doesn’t care. We feel discouraged and distance ourselves from the One Who made us in His image. The truth is: nothing can separate us from the love of God. (Romans 8:38-39) I have a passion to help individuals experience an authentic relationship with God - after all types of loss – and to release them to pursue their God-given passions, dreams and goals.

My decision to become a professional therapist was inspired by my first experience in couples counseling. As new, 30-something Christians, my husband and I were unaware of the emotional and spiritual impact of past unresolved losses and wrong choices on my present problems. But God knew. One of the most profound lessons was learning to respect our different temperament styles of thinking and feeling.
In my roles as a therapist/coach/teacher, I collaborate with my clients to help them identify the core issue behind their presenting problem(s). I prepare therapeutic interventions to fit my client’s short and long-term goals. In addition to 20 years experience in grief/loss, inner healing and deliverance, I am also trained in family systems, art therapy, gestalt and cognitive behavioral therapy. As a certified grief facilitator, I have helped couples, individuals, children and families who suffer from trauma, hurts and losses, especially those not acknowledged as legitimate by society.
Two important relational concepts characterize my counseling focus. First, Believers frequently minimize their pain, or allow others to dismiss their need to grieve all types of loss. Over time, the accumulation of unresolved hurts distorts our view of God, shapes a negative self-image and creates barriers to trust and intimacy. Second, many Christians struggle to believe God loves them due to negative childhood experiences. Therefore, my therapeutic goal includes developing my clients’ capacity to experience an authentic relationship with God as real, relevant and relational so that he/she is intimately aware of God’s unconditional love, no matter what problems occur once therapy concludes.

Areas of Additional Experience and Interest:
After experiencing healing for a past abortion, I founded the first women’s post-abortion support group ministry at The Church On The Way (TCOTW) in 1992, under Pastor Jack Hayford. My testimony of God’s healing from the emotional and spiritual effects of abortion is featured on the video “Beyond Regret.” During fifteen years of ministry at TCOTW, I was discipled in leadership, inner healing and deliverance ministry. Trained as a grief facilitator, I have a passion to help those who need a safe, nonjudgmental place to process losses considered “socially unacceptable” by society. As a seminar leader, I have ten years experience speaking on contemporary cultural issues using interactive formats that appeal to all learning styles. One of my joys is helping people understand and appreciate their unique blend of personality type and temperament style. In addition to mentoring emerging women leaders, I also have a passion to help adolescents navigate through their developmental tasks of identity formation. My spiritual mentors include Pastor Scott Bauer, Joyce Myers, John Maxwell, Florence Littauer, and Bruce Wilkinson.

“The glory of God is a human being fully alive; and to be alive consists in beholding God.” St. Irenaeus
Did the Beatles really get it right when they sang, “All you need is love?” Is life really that easy? Or does it seem more like life is full of pain, difficulties, unsatisfied desires, and loss…and you need a lot more than love to get by?

Maya Heffernan Bio
I believe you were meant to live a life of unashamed intimacy with God and people. Truth, beauty, strength, and joy are all part of what God made us for. But when we look around today at our lives we often wonder, “How did I get here?” Whatever your needs, I am here to serve you. I want to help you identify and overcome unwanted life patterns that keep you stuck. I want to help you live the life you were meant to live.
Do you remember the popular 1998 movie, The Truman Show, where Truman Burbank (played by Jim Carey) is fooled into thinking that a life-size movie set is his reality? He doesn’t break free from his prison until he is ready to accept that there’s more to his life than meets the eye. Our dilemma is much the same as Truman’s. We’ve lived so long thinking that what we see around us is all there is, that we’ve forgotten we were made for so much more. I believe we were made for a deep relationship with God and each other. But we can’t do this alone. I believe that individual growth happens in the context of our most intimate relationships.
I approach therapy with hope, caring, and optimism. I enjoy helping clients integrate their spirituality into their healing journey. Relationships are not only one of the most meaningful and satisfying things in our lives, but sometimes also the most painful and heartbreaking. I understand this both personally and professionally. I want to help you discover patterns in your life that keep you stuck. Often, our past shows up in our present in ways we are not aware of. I believe these intersections of past and present can also be doorways into our greatest healing.
I have been involved in Christian ministry for over 20 years. It has been my passion to see men and women connect to God holistically: body, mind, soul, and emotions. My experience includes leadership development that fosters spiritual and emotional growth, facilitating groups of healing communities, and crisis intervention and management. I have a special passion for working with families dealing with intergenerational and cross-cultural issues. I am first-generation Asian Indian. I was raised within the tension of being born Indian, but raised in America. The process of developing my own cultural identity has been both challenging and rewarding.
I gained valuable experience working with men and women struggling with substance abuse at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. I facilitated weekly groups focused on topics such as healthy relationships, boundaries, self-esteem, expressing emotions, anger management, and, changing negative thought patterns.
I have extensive experience in managing crises. As the Client Services Manager at a local pregnancy resource center, I not only counsel people in crisis, but also train others in effective crisis management strategies. I assist clients with a variety of needs and have broad knowledge of San Diego’s community resources.
On a personal note, one of my greatest joys is walking on the beach with my husband of over 26 years. We have two wonderful young adult children. I have lived in San Diego since 1986 and always been actively involved in the local church. I love learning about other cultures and have traveled to Thailand (2007), Fiji (2008), and India (2012) where I supported the work of the global church.

It is my goal as a therapist to help my clients better understand their experiences, and help them make the changes necessary to lead the lives they were meant for and have the relationship satisfaction they need. I specialize with individuals and couples. Using psychotherapy, with a focus on attachment needs I help my clients accomplish these goals. Concentrating on the importance of healthy and fulfilling relationships my clients are able to gain the interpersonal and marital relationships they have always intended to have but have struggled to find. Using empathy, patience and a non-judgmental stance I collaborate with my clients to reach their goals. My therapy technique is to help the entire person, which includes treating their mental, physical and spiritual self.

(works out of Carlsbad and Oceanside offices) Perhaps you are losing hope, and you wish the pain would subside. Or maybe your situation is not critical—you just want to get things back on track, or need a tune-up in your life or relationship. I believe God can work through therapy to promote hope, healing, and solutions.

I have experience in the following areas:

I was born and raised in beautiful California. After college my husband and I had the privilege of working together as missionaries to the Philippines for 24 years. We have four great kids, now adults, and raising them has been my biggest adventure so far. I’ve learned that raising kids is not for the faint of heart, as it seems to require every ounce of wisdom, prayers, and strength available, but the return on the investment is worth it!
My experience working at a family counseling center overseas that served missionaries and nationals confirmed my commitment to helping leaders and their families cope with their struggles and concerns. Working at a crisis center in San Diego has added to my experience working with people from many walks of life who cope with a variety of problems and issues.
I have spoken on the subjects of family balance in ministry, setting boundaries, stress management, overseas transitions, peer counseling, and self-injury.

leaving us feeling lost, lonely, sad, confused, misunderstood, scared, angry, frustrated, fearful, panicked and anxious.
“Anxiety in a person’s heart weighs it down; an encouraging word makes it glad.”
~ (Proverbs 12:25)
Counseling is a passion of mine that evolved from my prior public safety careers. As a member of a crisis response team, the path of my life met with the path of individuals, couples, and families who were experiencing horrific physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wounds—and in those crisis stabilization moments, I found that God had placed on my heart a passion for counseling others. I am honored to intern with the fabulous group of therapists at the Center for Enriching Relationships in San Diego and Carlsbad!
I encourage your courage to lean into issues that are personally troubling and sources of tension. I would enjoy the opportunity to connect with you, and in our counseling sessions my hope is that you would feel unwavering respect, mercy and empathy—that in moments of vulnerability, you can discuss your feelings safely—that what you have to say is important and that you are being heard. And, if the light of hope has faded from view, my prayer is that the Lord would help us work together to find it again.
“…And I said to the man…, “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.” And he replied, “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way.”

I work with clients who are prompted by a current crisis or decision, as well as individuals who simply wish to explore their current story and relationships in order to write themselves into a bigger and better story.
It is your story to write, I simply walk alongside, and facilitate connections that are most likely already there. Sometimes you just need someone who has some distance, and offers unconditional affirmation that your story is worthwhile.
I have experience working therapeutically with small children, high school students, young adults, couples, and elders. I am particularly passionate about working with young adults, individuals and couples.

Most people seek therapy because they desire a change in their lives. They may be experiencing emotional, physical and spiritual pain. They may be stuck in the same recurring relationship problems, or feeling depressed, anxious, lonely, vulnerable, unable to adjust to a life transition,

or they just want to move on from past hurts and experience healing. People want a safe place where they can talk to someone who will fully listen to them and meet them in their present situation.
I believe that there is always hope and that change is possible. Therapy can bring insight into your own needs, thoughts, feelings and behaviors. When you can gain a better understanding of who you are as an individual and in relation to others, then you can work toward making purposeful changes in yourself and in your relationships.
My role as a therapist is to collaborate with you and to assist you in working toward the changes you desire. It is well known that the relationship between the therapist and the client is a very important aspect of therapy. It is a relationship that is both professional and personal and should be one of safety and trust. Therefore finding the right therapist with whom you are comfortable is vital.
Please feel free to call me so that I can answer any questions that you may have. If I am unavailable when you call, leave a message with your contact information, and I will return your call as soon as possible. You may also contact me via my email address.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns that at times can appear exciting and enticing, yet at other moments can seem daunting, stressful and fear-inducing. I believe we all hold within ourselves the gifts and abilities to successfully navigate this unknown once we uncover these innate strengths.

“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” ~Jeremiah 29:11
I believe that all individuals are unique creations from the Lord and that He has instilled in each of us distinctive strengths and abilities to utilize through life’s journey during our time on this great Earth.
Growing up, my father was a pastor and I learned at a young age the importance of ministry, and integrating faith with service within such a commitment. Over the past 14 years, I have been afforded wonderful opportunities, both in church and in professional settings, to serve others and spread God’s love through counseling in order to affect long-term, positive change and an increased quality of life in the lives of those around me.
I use a strengths-based approach when working with clients and it is my hope and desire to create a warm, safe and respectful environment where people are free to uncover these strengths and abilities within themselves and enhance their future development as they break through roadblocks and navigate the unknown in life. I look forward to working with you as we display our trust and faith in God and explore the journey He has planned for us.
